The First Deftones Album Finally Becomes A Bestseller, 30 Years Later

A little more than 30 years ago, the rock band Deftones introduced itself to the world with an album titled Adrenaline. The set dropped in the fall of 1995, and while it was not a major commercial success at the time, the project did help set up the rockers for decades of success, a streak that continued into 2025.

Less than half a year after sharing new album Private Music, Adrenaline has finally become a bestseller in the U.K., as the set debuts on a list that the Grammy-winning act has dominated in the past, earning the musicians another winner.

Adrenaline by Deftones debuts on the U.K.'s Official Rock and Metal Albums chart more than 30 years after its release and after a busy 2025 for the band.

Adrenaline Finally Becomes a Rock Bestseller

Adrenaline appears on one ranking across the Atlantic this frame. The early-career release opens at No. 40, in last place, on the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart. That tally ranks the bestselling full-lengths and EPs in those styles across digital and physical variants throughout the U.K.

Deftones claim the only new arrival on the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart this time around. Multiple other classics return above the band, as artists like David Gilmour, Hole, Blink-182, Linkin Park, and even two sets by Nirvana find their way back to the genre-specific roster.

Deftones Debuted Two Albums in 2025

As Adrenaline finally becomes one of the 40 bestselling rock and metal collections in the U.K., Deftones earn a twelfth appearance on the list. It has only been a few months since the group scored another win on the same tally, as both Private Music and the years-old Koi No Yokan launched in 2025. Private Music hit No. 1, while Koi No Yokan stalled at No. 33.

A New Career Low for Deftones

It’s exciting to see Adrenaline debut on the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart, even if it is in the last rung on the list. Adrenaline now stands as the lowest-peaking Deftones title on the tally, stealing that distinction from Koi No Yokan, which only spent one frame at No. 33 back in September, long after it was initially shared with the public back in 2012.

Two versions of Koi No Yokan have placed on the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart, as the Official Charts Company sometimes separates anniversary releases and deluxe editions based on a number of factors. The first take, which became available more than a decade ago, once climbed all the way to No. 3.

Deftones Chart Three Albums at Once

Deftones fill three of the 40 spots available on the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart this week, as Adrenaline debuts and Around the Fur continues to perform well. Perhaps the most successful Deftones collection lifts one spot to No. 6, while Private Music falls outside the top 10 on that list.

Around the Fur Soars Back Into the Top 10

Across a trio of tallies, Around the Fur earns yet another stint inside the top 10 on the rock list, where it has now spent an impressive 225 weeks. Around the Fur also climbs back into the upper half of both the Official Physical Albums and Official Albums Sales rankings at the same time, settling at Nos. 47 and 50, respectively.

Will Deftones Beat Linkin Park and Yungblud at the Grammys?

In the coming weeks, Private Music may experience a commercial boom, as the full-length is currently nominated for Best Rock Album at the Grammys. Deftones has only ever won Best Metal Performance, more than two decades ago, for the song “Elite,” while “Ohms” was once in the running for Best Rock Performance just a few ceremonies ago. If Private Music is able to beat its competition — which includes recent projects from Haim, Linkin Park, Turnstile, and Yungblud — sales and streams of the project could spike.
